If I was a betting man, I’d location a hefty wager on the reality that when any of he pop stars that rule and charts today kick the bucket, there would be little brouhaha other than possibly a smallish obituary in the showbiz pages.
Luckily I’ m not, but as harsh as it may well sound, today’s pop stars are a largely forgettable lot, and few will be remembered 50 years from nowadays. Nevertheless, when I heard of Richard ‘Rick’ Wright’s recent death, it seemed as if an era of well-liked music was coming to an end.
Wright, a musician most renowned for his association with progressive rock giants Pink Floyd, was a quiet individual really diverse from his rock star contemporaries. That seemed accurate both in his on and offstage persons.

The Wall has been previously performed live in its entirety by RogerWaters just 31 times which includes Pink Floyd’s 1980-81 tour in support of the album. A spectacular Roger Waters solo staging and performance of the rock opera in July 1990, celebrating the fall of the Berlin Wall, drew almost a half million fans to the Potsdamer Platz.
Roger Waters’ The Wall North American Tour, produced by Live Nation, will open September 15 in Toronto and runs through December 14 at the Anaheim Honda Center (please see full itinerary following).
Originally released in November 1979, The Wall was America’s top-selling album of 1980, is 1 of the best-selling double albums of all time, and is nonetheless in the U.S. Leading five best-selling albums of all time.

Roger Waters moved to London to study structure at Regent Street Polytechnic and there formed a band with drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Rick Wright he performed bass and sang. Barrett joined them, forming Pink Floyd. Although Barrett was the band’s key songwriter at first, Waters wrote or co-wrote 3 songs at the 1st LP, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (August 1967), together with the solo composition “Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk.” By the time of the group’s 2nd album, A Saucerful of Secrets (June 1968), Barrett have been replaced by David Gilmour and Waters had all started to take a extra prominent role, contributing 3 songs and one co-composition to the LP. He also wrote or co-wrote all but 1 of the most tunes for the band’s soundtrack to the film A lot more (July 1969), even though his first solo work came on Ummagumma (November 1969), a two-LP set that consisted of one disc of live recordings and a 2nd disc on which every single bandmember contributed his individual tracks.

By now, Pink Floyd fans everywhere are aware that Roger Waters will be touring The Wall in its entirety later this year.
In a surprise announcement yesterday on his Facebook page, Roger Waters revealed that former band member, David Gilmour, will join him for a single show along the tour. The two have agreed to perform the iconic song “Comfortably Numb” on stage together!
No particulars on which show will feature the unique appearance. For now, and maybe until the actual event occurs, “it is a surprise.”
